External doors, for example are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure and internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features which can enhance security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump features.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, in the event that one is present. If you are unable to measure using the sash lock door handles in its position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.
